Constantly experimenting with the possibilities of the electric guitar, he has invented a playing technique that uses breath on the instrument. Next to his solo guitar work, his main band is the critically acclaimed experimental post-rock duo KNALPOT (with drummer Gerri Jäger). He has developed into one of the most authentic musicians of the younger Dutch generation and released many albums on the legendary ECM label.

He is familiar with the American jazz tradition, but wants to avoid the well-trodden path. The way he searches for a new musical idiom makes him an extraordinary musician, pushing the limits of classical music, improvised music and world music.

Her distinctive interpretations include the ones which evoke strong emotion through traditional Turkish and jazz pieces including her own compositions. In July 2010, Sanem won the 1st prize at the 44th annual Montreux Jazz Festival for Jazz Voice, where the jazz legend, Quincy Jones was the head of jury.

Graduate of the Bucharest National University of Music, he won over 15 national and international prizes as a classical violinist. He has worked with Ambrose Akinmusire, Theo Loevendie, Michel Godard, Ack van Rooyen and Michael Moore.
